Just Do It

As I have gotten older, well past 80, I am thankful for two things. First, I am still here and have a hobby (photography) that keeps me “focused” every day (no pun intended). Second, I continuously look for photo opportunities no matter the time of day or where I am in the moment. I do not need to travel far from home to find photos. There are many days when I will see something interesting to photograph while walking to get the mail at my street-side box. I may also spot something out my kitchen window while washing dishes. My cameras sit in their respective bags on a work desk close at hand and are always charged, ready to go. If I feel a need to stretch my legs a little, I’ll put a camera around my neck on its strap and am thus prepared for whatever I might see. Many photo enthusiasts are not as spontaneous. They carefully plan for photo trips during times of day when the light makes photos pop. Sunrise or sunset for example. For them, the activity of planning for and traveling to special locations is just as important as the photos to be captured. It really doesn’t matter which type photographer one is. It’s the joy involved that matters most. Just do it!
