I describe myself as a person who enjoys capturing objects and scenes through the lens of my cameras….“real life” images as I describe them. I do this every day within a 50-mile radius of my home near Martinsville, Virginia. Most of the photos were taken using my Leica D-Lux 8 camera…an affordable Leica. I also have images taken with my Sony A 6700 and Nikon ZF. I am blessed to own all three of these fine cameras.
It seems to me that photography isn’t want it once was. Smart phones have turned the average person into a photographer, recording all sorts of scenes and then sharing far too many on social media. Meanwhile, photo professionals and enthusiasts with traditional cameras go about doing what they have always done, but some are seeing they need to have a unique style that makes them stand out in the crowd. Artificial Intelligence today makes this difficult because what was once “creative” has become boring. AI can produce unreal scenes that muddy the water of human creativity. What’s fake or real is hard to say. This is exactly why I lean toward the type of photos I want to record...things most others miss in the real world that surrounds us all.
