I started out in my photographic journey as a young man using a twin-lens reflex camera, where I shot black-and-white roll film. The reason for that was I developed the film myself, and no way could I do color film. Over the years, however, I started shooting color film, having it processed commercially and making prints. Then, when digital cameras came along, I mainly stayed with color, with a mix of black and white from time to time. As I see it, there are three ways I can process my color image: neutral, under-saturated, and over-saturated. At first, I liked under-saturation. But recently I have begun to like a careful over-saturated look. If you browse through my gallery, you can see how it’s changed. It’s the capability of the cameras I use that made me start seeing how much range I have in deciding how to adjust color … in-camera … experimenting is fun too.
